Hi everyone,

Today, let’s talk about walking—both physically and metaphorically.

Part 1: Do You Really Need to Take 10,000 Steps a Day? 🚶‍♂️🌿

We often hear about the magic number: 10,000 steps a day. But is that truly necessary for better health?

Yesterday, I watched an insightful TED-Ed video that breaks down the real benefits of walking. Spoiler: it’s less about hitting a specific number and more about consistent movement.

Here’s why walking matters:

  • Boosts Creativity: Walking clears mental clutter and sparks new ideas.

  • Reduces Stress: Regular walks, especially in nature, help lower anxiety and improve mood.

  • Strengthens Health: Just 30 minutes of walking daily reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and more.

  • Builds Momentum: Small, consistent actions like walking create positive routines.

My Walking Progress:
I’ve realized that 10,000 steps isn’t some magic number—but it’s still a solid benchmark for staying active. More importantly, I want to challenge myself to go beyond that and build even more momentum.

Last year, I took approximately 4.6 million steps, averaging around 12,500 steps per day. 💪 This year, my goal is to surpass 5 million steps, aiming for a daily average of 15,000! 🏃‍♂️

Like anything worthwhile, progress isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistent, steady movement forward.

Part 2: Stop Talking, Start Doing – Walking the Talk 💬➡️🚶

We’ve all been there. We talk about starting that fitness routine, writing that book, launching that project—but weeks, months, even years pass, and nothing changes.

Talking about change doesn’t make it happen. Action does.

As Rumi wisely said:
"Either appear as you are or be as you appear."

This is more than just a poetic line—it’s a call for honesty with ourselves. It’s easy to post about our goals, share motivational quotes, and talk about ambition. But if our actions don’t reflect our words, they lose meaning.

I’ve been guilty of this too.
I used to spend more time planning how to write daily than actually writing. I convinced myself that once I had the perfect system, I’d start. Spoiler: the perfect system never came.

Once I let go of the need to "get ready" and just started writing, everything changed. Consistency mattered more than perfection.

Why Walking the Talk Matters:

  • It Builds Trust. People notice when you follow through. Consistent action earns quiet respect.

  • It Strengthens Self-Respect. When your actions align with your values, you feel more confident and grounded.

  • It Leads to Real Results. All the planning and talking in the world won’t replace taking action.

How to Walk Your Talk:

  1. Start Small, Act Daily.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Do one small thing today that moves you forward.

  2. Prioritize What Actually Matters.
Take a hard look at your daily habits. Are they aligned with your biggest goals? If not, what needs to change?

  3. Hold Yourself Accountable.
Tell someone what you’re working on. Track your progress. Share your small wins. Accountability turns intentions into action.

A Thought to Leave You With:

Imagine if you followed through on even half of the things you said you wanted to do last year. Where would you be today?

That’s not to make you feel guilty—it’s to remind you that your goals are still within reach.

📩 Let me know what action you're committing to today!

A Personal Reflection

I’ve often caught myself talking about what I should do but avoiding what actually matters.

My mind naturally gravitates toward easier, more enjoyable tasks. But I know that to reach my goals, I need to prioritize the work that’s necessary and impactful—even when it’s not easy or fun.

That’s why I’m embracing digital minimalism to eliminate distractions and endless scrolling. I’ve also joined communities like Premium Ghostwriting Academy to stay accountable and focus on the work that truly matters.

It’s not enough to talk about writing or growth—I have to consistently show up and do the work.

Your Turn

What’s one small step you can take today to walk the walk and walk your talk?
